The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip with 1GB of RAM and 12 core ultra-low voltage nVidia GeForce GPU. And despite the capable hardware, Google managed to keep the price of the Nexus 7 impressively low. The slate will come in 8GB and 16GB flavors, which will retail for 9 and 9 respectively. The Google Nexus 7 comes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and Google Wallet preinstalled. Sadly, there isn't a 3G model available, but obviously keeping the price as low as possible was key here. That's also the reason there isn't a camera at the back, and only a 1.2MP front-facing snapper. However, it's capable of shooting 720p video, so it's not all bad. Measuring 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm the 7-incher weighs in at 340 grams which is respectful for its size. The Amazon Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will be having a hard time indeed.

I have an infuse 4g (really old outdated phone) running jelly bean (cyanogenmod 10) and it is faster than my ipad 3. Project butter truly makes the os smoother than it already was with ICS. However, I will agree that gingerbread was a BIT laggy at times...but it was still a pretty good mobile os.
ReplyDeleteBattery is fantastic. I'm on 4 in a half hours screen time (9 hours total time on) and my battery is 45% with brightness at 50%. System is buttery smooth (forgive the pun but its true). Very responsive and very powerful.
ReplyDeleteI do know a thing or two about jailbreaking...as a matter of fact I jailbroke my ipad the day i got it and it does make it a bit more functional. However, the good tweaks and apps are usually one dollar or more (although I usually get these from cracked sources. Also, a lot of the major tweaks are based off of features found on android (dashboard x, sbssettings, ncsettings, barrel from the 3rd party launchers. However, jailbreaking is nothing in comparison to installing custom roms after rooting
ReplyDeleteif you knew anything about Cydia. You wouldn't even compare the two...
ReplyDeletei want the 16gb. does anyone know how good the battery life is?
ReplyDeleteprices in europe are expensiver :(
ReplyDeletepretty sure no tablet comes with "hdmi or SD cars"
ReplyDeletei fuck may cat !
ReplyDeleteHahaha I said breast. I meant *beat*
ReplyDeletePeople bitch about storage but this was built to use with Google Cloud. If you want the perfect tablet go make it yourself. For the money this can't be breast and I love where Android is going. Already ordered one got my wife and I.
ReplyDeleteit has USB OTG??
ReplyDeleteThese tablets always lack something it's so frustrating. Asus great... but wifi sucks. This one has no micro sd slot... 16g's isn't enoguh for movies, games, apps, music... That's why I will never buy one untill there's a perfect one... Ipad sucks cuz it lacks memory too.
ReplyDeleteCan you use the micro usb port to connect a usb flashdrive as extra storage?
ReplyDeleteNexus 7: Good tablet, amazing cost:value ratio
ReplyDeleteiPad: Great tablet, terrible cost:value ratio
There.
Kindle Fire has 3G? NOPE
ReplyDeleteI would get this tablet cause it's Google, but it should have a back camera instead of front camera. I say go with the blackberry PlayBook cause for $200 you get a back facing camera, micro hdmi port, and 16 gb for $200.
ReplyDeleteNo 3G means no life , so it socks ...
ReplyDeleteto me much better dan ipad, i can even sell my ipad 2 and buy this. better screen resolution, more features, NFC ENABLED,cheaper, and better OS dan d ipad 2. the only fuck up is d CAMERA!!! well i guess i culd find an external camera hardware dat might work.

ReplyDeleteThe Nexus 7 has definitely revolutionized the market with its features and price.
ReplyDeletethats the best budget tablet of all years...it looks the new i pad in eyes
ReplyDeleteyeah it does much less...no flash support, all the office apps cost 10-20 bucks(onlive and cloudon are free but require wifi), and a lot of the apps (iphone apps) are upscaled and look terrible on the high res. display...I own the new ipad
ReplyDeleteWhere the hell are you buying $300 iPad 2s with HDMI and SD card slots? Oh right trolls don't always have to know their facts.
ReplyDeleteDon't feed the TROLL....
