@olli2591- they didn't forget the internet, it was there in 1994, just in it's infancy. Unless you were a huge business or a major university, it was all dialup... read: SLOW. That was why they envisioned flash media cards and download kiosks. Going back 35 years, the modern internet was something NO one saw coming.. at least as it exists today. 100kbps would have seemed like Star Trek technology... let alone 300m...mega...bps. This was an amazing vision of modern tablet technology.
Incredible vision of the tablet. Too bad he got this (11:55) wrong. Newspapers are becoming dinosaurs. The rise of blogging and online user videos contribute greatly to the demising power of old media.
looks like apple is a bunch of sleaze bag creeps again trying to sue for an "idea" that already existed well before steve jobs decided to steal it and profit from it.
I mostly agree with your comments, except that Steve Jobs had the brains to understand the potential and bring ideas to commercialization. If those "bozos" at Knight Ridder had the intelligence, they wouldn't have closed the lab it could've made a difference of few hundred billions; instead of a fire-sale to the competitor in 2006. From 1995 headline: "Knight-Ridder Inc. has closed a research lab it established to explore electronic publishing alternatives like the flat-panel newspaper."
Yeah these guys were pretty much right on the money. The only detail that looks goofy in a modern context is the stylus. Otherwise, god damn, they nailed it.

ReplyDeleteIt's no secret that Steve Jobs stealed a lot of things before he become famous. And.. awesome tie.

ReplyDeleteApple needs to go back in time to 1994 and sue Knight Ridder for their blatant theft of the 2010 iPad design!

ReplyDeleteGood eye there... you totally innovated the idea of searching for those headlines and revealing them to be from around March 1992
ReplyDeletemaybe it took them that long to do the fancy CGI graphics ?
